Pressurised Systems (Fluids and Gases)

Employees must;

• know and work within the safe working pressure of the system.

• Prior to use, check that all connections are secure and leak proof.

• Secure all hoses before pressurising., and

• Protect safety valves from damage.

• Use pressure in a controlled way.

• Use pressure systems, and in particular compressed air systems in the appropriate manner e.g. do not;

   

  • Direct pressurised gas onto skin

  • At the body,

  • Mess around with compressed air systems,

  • Use to clear away dust or debris.

Inspection, testing and maintenance

• All pressurised systems to be inspected tested and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements and in compliance with the accepted national standards.

• Pressurised systems to be maintained by competent people.

• Where necessary, maintenance is carried out under a permit to work system.
