Introduction to Manual

In the pages that follow you will find the components needed to prepare a complete in-company safety management system. You should find that you are able to use much of the material without much alteration, however there will be specific requirements for your company or your industry that need to be included. The Safety Manual is a crucial document in the safety management system. It details how your company will ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. It relies primarily upon suitable and sufficient hazard analysis and risk assessments to determine the necessary control measures.

The material on the Open Access part of this site is extensive and continually growing. Our work is published here on the Copyleft principle, that is that it is freely available for use by anyone for the purpose of developing their own ethical work practices. The stipulation is that you must abide by the precise terms of the licence, detailed in the Copyleft section (see button at bottom of your screen).

Please note: If you use this material to develop a Safety Manual for your company you will need to ensure the suitability and sufficiency of the finished product and if necessary check with their national statutory safety body (NSSB) before committing it to use.

MS Word documents, PowerPoints and PDFs will open in a separate page or tab, for ease of use and clarity when reading on screen.
